. A Career in Make-up ?
Good
idea, but plan it carefully. Makeup is one of those careers that appear
glamorous from the outside. And it certainly can be a stimulating and
rewarding way to earn a living, but like most jobs it requires hard work.
However, if you learn the skills, practice and put the work in, the sky’s
your limit.
My career, and more
recently my Academy have allowed me to get up each day and do what I love
most. But, back when I graduated as a young student, I didn’t walk
straight into glamorous, interesting makeup assignments. Makeup is no
different to most careers in that way. You usually start as an assistant
and learn alongside more experienced artists. So it’s important to ensure
your training is sound and your tutors are experienced
teachers.
SRA Academy has over seven years experience developing
professional trainers and programmes and teaching all aspects of the
makeup craft. All SRA courses are audited and accredited by the NZQA so
you can qualify for student loans for course fees and other course related
costs as well as living costs.
We have produced hundreds of successful graduates,
many are now either in senior roles with international makeup brands,
working freelance, or in the film and television industry, or the many
other businesses that require makeup artists.
Over the years we’ve developed
excellent contacts in all parts of the makeup world so we can help you as
you learn all of the different skills and decide which direction you
prefer. Good luck, it is a great career choice.
